Early Life & Background
Momoko Tanikawa was born on May 7, 2005, in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. She began her football journey at a young age, joining the youth setup of the JFA Academy Fukushima, where she honed her skills from 2018 to 2023. Her early experiences in youth football laid the foundation for her development as a talented midfielder.
Club Career
Tanikawa made her professional debut with the JFA Academy Fukushima, where she accumulated 51 appearances and scored 19 goals from 2018 to 2022. In 2024, she joined Bayern Munich Women, where she has since made 32 appearances, netting 9 goals and providing 2 assists. During the same year, she was loaned to FC Rosengård in Sweden, where she made a significant impact by scoring 16 goals in 20 appearances, helping the team secure the Damallsvenskan title.
International Career
Since 2023, Tanikawa has represented the Japan national team, making her full international debut. She has participated in major tournaments, including winning the 2022 Asian Games and the 2023 Toulon Tournament. Notably, she also contributed to Japan's campaign in the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, scoring in every match and leading her team to the quarter-finals.
