Early Life & Background
Khiara Ilhaan Keating was born on June 27, 2004, in Ardwick, Manchester. Growing up, she was encouraged by her mother to pursue football, initially playing as a striker before transitioning to goalkeeper. Keating began her youth career at Manchester United, where she trialed at just six years old. After spending several years at United, she moved to the Manchester City academy in 2014, honing her skills and developing into a promising talent.
Club Career
Khiara Keating made her professional debut for Manchester City on January 12, 2022, in the FA Women's League Cup against Leicester City. She quickly established herself as a reliable option for the team, making her league debut just days later against Aston Villa. During the 2021-22 season, she was loaned to AFC Fylde, where she gained valuable experience before returning to City due to a series of injuries within the squad. In January 2023, Keating joined Coventry United on loan, where she made four appearances in the Women's Championship. As of the 2025-2026 season, she has made a total of four appearances for Manchester City.
International Career
Khiara Keating has represented England at various youth levels, including the U15, U17, U19, and U23 teams. Her senior debut came on October 25, 2025, when she made history as the first Black goalkeeper to play for the England women's senior team during a match against Brazil in her hometown of Manchester. Keating was also part of the England squad that won the UEFA Women's Championship in 2025, contributing to the team's success as a backup to the first-choice goalkeeper.
